Event – Day Trip to Tiengemeten

Daytrip to Tiengemeten Sunday, 10-05-2015

Introduction

Tiengemeten is a small island (approx. 8 km long and 2 km wide) in the province of South Holland and located 65 km from The Hague. In 2007 the island was given back to Mother Nature and since then Tiengemeten has become a real wilderness with trackless terrain, flowing creeks and gullies, meadows full of flowers and huge populations of migrating birds, highland cattle. The car-free island has good walking tracks and is only accessible via a small ferry that runs every hour. An excellent opportunity to practice landscape and wildlife photography in the Dutch wilderness, see for further information:

Arrangements

If interested in this daytrip, please dispatch an E-mail before 26-04-2015 to hoortman@gmail.com, with subject “Tiengemeten”, and indicate that you will participate and whether you bring a guest. Please also indicate whether you are able to provide transport, i.e. you are willing to drive and take club members with you. There are two locations on the island where coffee and lunch can be provided. We will try to co-ordinate transport from a central location in The Hague and those driving will be compensated for the petrol costs. Indications for costs per person are (not including drinks and lunch):

Ferry:                 4.50 €, please book yourself a return ticket on the website below

https://www.natuurmonumenten.nl/natuurgebied/tiengemeten/tickets-en-tijden

Transport:          Approx. 10.00 €, to be shared amongst those willing to drive (assuming 4 persons per vehicle)

We will get on the 10:00 ferry in the morning (departure from The Hague at 08:30) and return with the 17:10 ferry in the late afternoon, this gives us more than 6 hours on the island and enough time to discover the entire place by foot.
